This is from an FHA new (less than 12 months) MH assignment. The MH has the Data Labels on the exterior but my brother and I searched every square inch for a Data Plate and all we could find was a fire resistant document located in the exterior water heater cabinet. It doesn't say anything about the HUD building code. It does have the name of the manufacturer and the serial number (and verbiage about the not altering or adding).

Just wondering if there is something new going on that I don't know about regarding data plates.

BTW, this coach has a roof pitch that allows for an attic space and there are some sort of special vent things coming out of the roof but there is no scuttle or other method of accessing the attic area for observation. The above label states not to modify the contents of the attic. It would seem to me that an attic observation (at least at some point) would be needed to verify that not alterations were done.

You sure its manufactured? Could easily be modular.

No. It has the data labels on the exterior.

We also noted some problems with the roofing (this is a new home.) It looks like the edges of the shingles may be been damaged during the transport or after the close up construction.

Also, this is a replacement for the MH that was destroyed in a fire named the Valley Fire (1200 homes destroyed last fall.) It's in a wild fire area so it looks like this one is specially constructed. I wonder if this may have anything to do with the lack of the data plate.

Why are there pencil marks around the HUD label? It doesn't look like the roof a HUD code manufactured home.

Good question. The siding is concrete board and it's VERY heavy. There was a small piece of it (crawl space access cover) that I was going to use to kneel on to looking into the crawl (short pants and rocky ground). The owner said not to because he didn't want it to break.

The other label had similar lines (I didn't notice these while taking the photos - saw them when you pointed them out.) They look like some sort of crack or maybe a scribe line. I wonder if the concrete board is to heavy for an MH (this is a very low end MH)

May be it's a regional issue. But it doesn't look HUD to me. I've never seen utility connection go thru soffit and up thru roof. Did you observe the crawlspace? I wasn't sure what you meant by your last comment.

It's a manufactured home as evidenced by the data labels. But obviously it's been modified/altered and I'm pretty sure it was a either custom made for wild fire protection at the factory or perhaps modified at the dealership. And yes, I did inspect the crawl spaced. dry stacked c-blocks on wood. There is some sort of proprietary stabilization system but I couldn't get far enough in to make a close observation. Perhaps that system was to allow for the excessive weight of the James Hardie concrete board siding.

Dig deeper. I am not an expert in this area. The manufacturer should know. Or, HUD, shouldn't they? The dealer maybe?
