This is a fascinating organization. They seem to fill the void AI misses...very member-centric.
 
I had never heard of them but a friend who was ASA-joined them and did not renew his ASA designation - NOT saying Asa is bad but he thought they like AI-had abandoned the residential appraisers and the dues and CE were imply not worth the money- I will monitor the situation and see if this was a good move or if he was just making up excuses to jump ship .

They are based in the UK, yet international with a branch here in the US. Their message resonates with me, more emphasis on measurement, inspection, understanding buildings and construction --- and always looking towards the future.

The article "Long-term Valuers" is good: "What will clients want from valuers and valuations in a tech-enabled future? Sander Scheurwater reviews RICS research findings,", e.g. "But there is a client demand to know about the impact of sustainability, and valuers should think about how to use their knowledge and skills appropriately and go beyond a traditional valuation. The discussion around a building’s sustainability is often directly linked with another conversation among valuers and between valuers and clients – namely, the subject of a building’s future, or long-term, value."

The AI emphasis on supporting AMCs, selling appraisers courses on appraising pot businesses, does NOT resonate. In fact, I'm questioning the leadership ....

Go to an AI get-together near you. There are many. You may find other facts to beat your drum to.

Like where are you suggesting? Bigger chapters are about 4 hours in all directions.

Yep. It is an antiquated and slugish organization, without vision. They are mostly reactive, mostly unreactive. OK, sound contradictory? They lack leadership with a deep understanding of what is at play, the trends, where things are goiing to have to go long term and how fast the market is turning. They react to a ton of pressure from members who also don't understand the issues, - when they shouldn't react, but rather act intelligently. ... For example, they react to something like the threshold issue because their members are upset. It is very questionable whether trying to thwart threshold limit changes is better for the long term interests of the NEW generation of appraisers needed to meet future demand and solve future problems.

They don't move forward with the professional environment. They stagnate.

NO VISION.
