Hello,

While on appraisers forum I received a pop-up that says "your flash player may be out of date".

That is a function of your computer, not our forum. I suggest you update your flash player if you want to view flash videos.

Not a scam - go into your adobe and upgrade it - this pops up on all of our computers .

It is a known scam. I was not trying to view flash videos. As you can see from the screenshot, I clicked on the link for "FNMA Unacceptable Assignment Condition?" and a new tab opened. Look at the scam url. That is not an adobe address.

It is likely from one of the ads.

I have flash blocked by default. If this were a legitimate adobe request, it would ask me if i want to allow it to run.
BINGO !
You rarely need flash, which IMHO, is mostly used in adverts, and to install malware.
I also keep mine off, and allow it to run sparingly.

the scam pop-up tells you it's a scam right in the pop-up itself

If you get the message "This file is not commonly downloaded" Skip the "Remove file" option and click Open.

"This file is not commonly downloaded" is a browser warning that the downloaded file is considered suspicious.

I agree that the OP ran into some spam/malware. Andrew, have you scanned your computer for malware recently? If it's clean, I'm 99.9% sure the scam popup came from the website.
