SFREP - Appraise-it Software is AWESOME!

I just called SFREP to see what is going on and they are re-writing a portion of the software. This is in part to the UAD. They will be changing the UAD so that the UAD boxes aren't locked and can be typed into directly for those that have learned UAD format. woohoo

They are also addressing the reformatting issue. I have had the form reformat. It is a 10 second pause...nothing was deleted and not a big deal, imo...more of an annoyance at best.

You must have talked to sales because I called an hour and a half ago and have not heard back.

OK. Another one for you. When you import a report does all the spacing get eliminated? It becomes one paragraph no spacing. Problematic for grids and market analysis section. Basically it is easier to cut and paste to word and then paste into the report. In the old version you could cut and paste from websites (Assessor) and place in the report, no problem. Now it does not always recognize it and may not paste. It also changes font. You change the font back, but it has a ghost font that may change when you click off and then back on that page. You also cannot not open Non UAD reports when in UAD. problematic with the recent conversion as well as when you trying to access information from a vacant land appraisal or recent Non UAD SFR. BTW autosave is on and currently not working properly. My partner just lost all his imbedded photos from last nights report. Etc Etc Etc......

Oh BTW two people from tech have stated that they are writing from ground up.

Yes, the paragraphing is lost on the importing of another report. When pasting from another source it maintains the font of the source and has to be changed. Not a biggie...if I cut and paste into word, the original font is kept, it doesn't automatically change into the font you're working with - you have to change it to the font you're using. When I type Times Roman in 11 font on word (which is what my SFREP uses) and cut/paste it into the addendum, it doesn't need to change. If I paste Verdana in, then I need to change it to the roman 11 font the software is using.

Yes you can't open a non uad form when your have a uad form up. Don't know why you're losing photos. Never had that problem...but I automatically save my report as soon as I input the subject info - that way it creates it's own file so auto-save will work properly. To be safe, I also hit the save button right before I go into another program like apex, map, print, etc.

These are little bugs to work out, but not nearly the major issues like I've seen from most of the other software companies. Bugs are expected on such a funky format like the UAD. Overall, it has been very stable for me and others. You seem to be the only one whining about the mole hills.

It changes font, but then you highlight text and change it to Times New Roman, but it will often change back to the original or might make up a third font type or size.

I also save the report immediately. Trust me I have learned the hard way. The deleted reports were from files that were saved and in one case delivered two weeks ago. The program is infested with data munching bugs at the moment.

What I do is after I paste everything in the comments and am finished with that section, I hit Cntl A (highlights everything) and then set the font.

yes, they are working out the bugs of a new format...but read some of the other big name appraisal software posts. Might make you feel better. It's been a walk in the park in comparison.

I used WCA for years (which I assume is almost the same as SFREP). Never had a minutes trouble with it. The simplicity was unbelievable. But when UAD became mandatory I switched to Total 2011, which has been a huge disappointment so far. I really miss WCA.
I think it's absolutely crappy that you can't buy the software anymore. ...It's a stupid system but more and more software is going that way.
Well they can all shove it where the sun don't shine. I would either write my own software or get out of this business before I EVER rent software from anyone.

Requests and Issues with SFREP (current):
-Reformats the entire form if I sneeze or do anything else in or near the program
-Still "forgets" what pages I want in a certain Print Scheme (always has too)
-MISMO/XML View Functionality
-There is no "off switch" for UAD Helper for a field by field basis
The formatting seems better since the last update. I wanted to mention that and repeat the need for an "off switch," perhaps in the format menu. A simple check mark for that field that shuts off the UAD Helper. That would be swell.

An update on the UAD Helper being relaxed...it will be in Appraise-It 12.0 due out at the end of this month (January or early Feb). There will be four fields that will remain locked, for now. They are the four UAD fields that have extended comments. We will unlock those in the summer once our rewrite of the core of Appraise-It is completed. We could not get them to be as reliable as we wanted when tripping over to extended comments.

The entire grid will be unlocked, however..
