Mr. Hattaway, KC Royals;
CP is likely on the right track - your version 3 of Apex was likely purchased from/through ALM and you should be able to get it from them. In fact, I would be surprised if you don't already have it since it was likely sent out through their update service as part of your maintenance contract/fees you paid them. The version you purchased from them was one we made just for them and we do not/did not sell it as a "stand-alone" (non-integrated) product, nor was it available from any other forms vendor. The core product (obviously) is the same "under the hood" but the interface was custom for ALM users. It is our policy to provide updates (i.e. v3.0 to v3.1, 3.2, etc.) to registered customers for free, and our resellers were never charged a fee for updates either. Upgrades (i.e. v3.x to v4.x, etc.) carry the customary market-driven fees with typical discounts every 3 - 5 years. The current version is v4.3 and while the v4 product is already over 3 years old, we are still releasing updates to the program with new features to registered users. Select "About" on the Help menu in Apex to see a version number and a date compiled/released.
The PDA reference throws me, however... Are we talking about your desktop program (Apex) or the PocketPC version (MobileSketch)? These are two different programs, just as Pocket TOTAL™ is different from WinTOTAL™. One is built for the Pocket PC while the other is for the regular Windows OS and neither will run on the other platform. The version number on MobileSketch is found by selecting "About" from the File menu. Anyway, help me understand what we're dealing with and I am happy to try and help. FWIW, I am not in the sales department and I'm not sure if I am "the right person" or not, but I am able to influence things from time to time... ;-) If an Apex employee is giving you the run-around, I'd like to know who they are and the circumstances. As an ex-appraiser, I understand what it is like to be stuck and some techno-dweeb is giving you some lip. Feel free to PM me with any details you think might be germane.
Regards,
-Randall Garrett-
