Plenty of bad vibes here for these shops, but does anyone have any positive experiences working as a staff appraiser in the past few years? Just wondering if there are good and bad staff jobs, or if the sweatshop reputation is pretty much true across the board? Thanks.

Two different worlds. Staff appraiser for a bank/lender versus staff appraiser for an AMC. Which are you referring to?

Both/either.

You can be a staff appraiser for the DOT. Decent money, benefits, no volume pressure.

It's not all lending work out there.

One large AMC is offering $17/hour plus production bonus, another is offering something similar. One staff office is offering $150/report and another is also offering something similar.

If I remember correctly, a CR starts at $20/hr for the state + sweet benefits. 37.5 hours a week, 11 holidays, 7 days vacation 1-3 years, 14 days 3-15 years, 21 days 15.....

Couple raises every year, steps up in the pay chart, cost of living.

Not bad for a 7-3 shift.

As with anything, there are some good and some bad. I know some staff appraisers who are treated like slaves. I know others with good pay and benefits. Primarily it depends on the company and the appraiser's specific location.

What is the pay and benefit package for a SL staff appraiser?
