I'm pleased to see so few of Massachusetts appraisers. From my interaction with appraisers at classes, seminars, meetings, breakfasts, and local industry events, they seem very professional. Of course, the ones I see are ones who care enough to go to such things in the first place, but it still stands that the eastern Mass appraisers I have met seem very professional.

You just haven't met the right ones. I have a stack of reviews 2' high of just the reports where they actually made data up. 5 year old MLS listings used as rental comps when there were no rents in the MLS. Non-waterfront properties listed as waterfront. And my favorite of all time was a report where he made up some addresses for comps. And one of them happens to be the site of Worcester Police Headquarters.

Posted by Virginia Real EstateAugust 31, 2008RICHMOND, VA - August 31, 2008 - (RealEstateRama) — The Virginia Real Estate Appraiser Board revoked the license of a residential appraiser at its most recent meeting on Tuesday, August 19, 2008. Below is a summary of the Board’s action.

Copies of file orders are available online at www.dpor.virginia.gov under "License Lookup." Fines are deposited directly into the state Literary Fund, which is used solely for public education purposes such as school construction, renovation, and teacher retirement funding.

VIOLATION – Farrell violated the Board’s regulations by virtue of her misdemeanor conviction for embezzlement. In addition, Farrell failed to notify the Board of the conviction.
