I heard a statistic that the median age of appraisers was 58. I looked at it as a positive, because then as appraisers retire, it will mean more business for those of us that are younger.

I'll take that as a yes vote for the public option granny panel circulating on the hill.

I'll be 57 in 1 month, I said the same thing you did 32 years ago.

And now I find myself competing with newly certified appraisers that will ***** themselves out for a buck fifty.

I just turned 81 10/3/2009. I started this job when I was 74. Love it.

Hey Kris Chase......I'll bet you're just drooling over momma & daddy's house waiting for them to kick as well. Change your name to Kris Ghoul.

Hey just calling it how it was told to me. This was a career change for me and I wanted to make sure there was room for growth!! People gotta retire sometime in every profession!!

Fair Enough. I guess I over-reacted a bit. Keep in mind that because things have been so slow for the past few years, "retirement" has most likely been pushed back for many. Factor in the devastation to many retirement / investment portfolios from the crash and recession and you could be waiting a long time. I have no plans to retire at this point. I can't afford it and I don't think I'd really want to anyway. I bet I'm not alone.
