The Appraiser Shortage Myth Part 43

Among those is the unrelenting stips, irrelevant assignment conditions, 48 hour tat, constant nagging and updating, and abusive treatment from the "reviewers" as well as the risk of nonpayment.

Agreed. Many of those reasons are why I don't work for CC. Fees are borderline C&R but I won't take the risk of getting nagged by some Cali kid. Pass every time.

I turn in all my reports in 48 business hours. Oddly enough, 90% of my inspections begin on Thursday afternoon/Friday and delivered at the end of business on Monday/Tuesday.

Ez to maintain that 1,000 score as the GOAT.

Bwahahahaha! :rof: (y)
That was another example that my friend at Servicelink was complaining about! The fact that an appraiser will accept an assignment on Monday with a "due date" of Friday of that same week, but then update their system that the "appointment" is Thursday or Friday of that week, thus "pushing" the due date ("48 hrs after inspection) to the following Monday or Tuesday and "THEREFORE" turning the 5 day TAT into 7 days
(This isn't just a Servicelink thing, BTW, I know of a couple other friends at other AMCs who "complain" about the same thing)

How many of the AMCs tell the borrower that the appraisal has been assigned and that they need to make the property available at the drop of the hat because the appraiser has to set the appointment within 24 hours and get the report back to them 48 hours afterwards? The most common question I hear is do you work on weekends, I have a job and can't make time during the week...:rof:

f & u, this is my job and I don't do weekends unless you want to pay for my a premium for my free time...

You need different friends lol!

To each his own. I like to take off work during the middle of the week, and traffic is so much more appraiser-friendly during the weekends. I also like very early morning inspections, if possible.

The thing that bothers me is that the borrowers act as if we don't have "real" jobs and are at their beck and call. I don't think AMCs or lenders do anything to dissuade this line of thought. I do both Appraisals and Home Inspections on weekends, with at least $100+ fee increase for their convenience and my inconvenience.

You mean like noon? I don't get up that early. :)

Seriously very fond of my schedule... only inspect 1 in 4 or so. I charge about $1,000 typically for my "desktop" appraisals. The rest involve surface. And Noon is my preferred time...less shadow

Understand, time for the chicken sh*t to cake up. :)

AI required it for the MAI & SRA and it was required for the CG.
Don't get me started on degrees...Major Univ. offered me a Masters in petroleum management since I had 28 grad hours, I needed only 8 more, take on line...just write the check, $36,000. This is a state school not private - nice.
