$75 x 37.5 hrs x 50 weeks = $140,625 annual salary + bennies

$45 x 37.5 hrs x 50 weeks = $84,375 annual salary + bennies
And I decided to be an appraiser - FOOL :new_all_coholic:

Riick....the $75/hour includes the benefits. The base wage for UAW is around $30/hour (+/- $2/hr). The additional $45/hour is the benefits and retirement. Let's not make it worse than it already is.

And people on here wonder why our industry sucks? If the early appraisers were sensible enough to form a union, many of our issues now could be handled appropriately.

My dad worked for the Washington Post for over 35 years (production - high school GED). He paid his union dues, busted him hump, etc. His Post retirement sucks... however, his union retirement is allowing him to actually live life for once. People on here dogging the union... get a clue. These people paid their dues and deserve every dime out there.

I hope the gov't bails them out... because it sure and hell isn't going to the housing market.

But, if the Big 3 are allowed to go down, there will be hundreds of thousands of people affected. Truck drivers, trucking companies, ma and pop shops who make, design, fabricate, and deliver parts, small to large companies who are contracted to the Big 3 for various pieces, tire manufacturing, rubber hose manufacturing, battery manufacturing, window manufacturing, steel, fiberglass, cushions, leather and cloth seat manufacturers, and on and on. In some way, shape or form, a large percentage of this country is tied up or dependent upon the automobile industry.

I heard on NPR that 1 in 10 jobs in America are auto related.

How does it Go Joyce? "I'll be living in a White Van under the Bridge". :rof:

Most folks are unaware that the factories own virtually no automobiles. Once the pieces start down the production line, the unit is titled to the dealer and includes a 20-day interest-free period. When that finance source becomes unavailable (read: GMAC or Ford Motor Credit) then the production line comes to a halt. Beyond lack of sales, that lack of production financing will dry up GM very shortly ..

We are not going to be able to pull out of this DEPRESSION as we did in the Thirties due to the FACT that we will no longer make/invent anything here in the USA> We are a SERVICE orientated country in the thirties we invented things that created jobs, there are just so many places for In & Out burger to build. & with the continuing output of empty buildings there is no need to build any more. 65% of the commercial buildings in AZ built in past three years are VACANT!!

In the 70's we were the ONLY country building Airplanes Now we are 7th or 8th in production. WHY cause everytime someone goes on STRIKE another country says come here we shoot those that strike, BRAZIL!! is producing more planes than the USA
