The other night I watched fox televise the budget battle. What is so interesting the arguing only represents about 30% of federal expenditures. The other 70% is set in stone. I.E Social Security payments. etc
"
The majority of the federal budget is governed by permanent law, including:
Taxes and fees: These are generally governed by laws that remain in place until changed.
Mandatory spending: This includes programs that are written into law and do not require annual approvals. Examples include Social Security, Medicare,
Medicaid, and veterans benefits. and many others
So the original bill had over 1,500 pages. They ended up as I recall, with just over a 1,000 pages.
The question is simple one: What was in those pages they took out. Answer: PORK for all the congressman's districts. So we could break this pork down into strips of bacon. Some congressman if they were very new reps they maybe only got one strip of bacon. Most powerful house rep got 10 strips of bacon. and on and on it goes. In the end all the congressman got strips of bacon.
But wait...why are they getting more and more bacon. Inflation and greed. They have to bring more bacon home each term to remain in office. Each term they get to be leaders in the party.
I wish we could see the final bill/budget and go over it to find all the non-essential bacon aka money expenditures.
