I must confess the layout of the new USPAP book is the most retched and convoluted epistle I've ever attempted to peruse.

How can anyone find anything in a document so ill-glossed and indexed. And incredibly expensive for its value. Sucks putty balls.

I thought they only made two major changes in USPAP. Otherwise it's still the same wretched convoluted epitstle ever created.

Not sure exactly what you are talking about. The new USPAP book has the same layout as the previous book. It's just separated into more than one volume.

It lacks any decent indexing, any decent table of contents, and you thumb through and through just to get to the section you want - It is worse that the last one. Count the pages between the old one and the new (2) piece book...not to mention price.

I disagree. I have the book in front of me. The sections are in the same order they were before and are clearly labeled. There is a perfectly usable Table of Contents and Index. I agree that it was handy to have it all in one volume but, it's really not that hard to put one book down and pick up another one. I completely agree about the price. Fortunately, I live in NC and the appraisal board provides discounted prices to credentialed appraisers when a new edition of USPAP is available. However, if you think it should be different, get appointed to the ASB and make that happen. Then we can complain about the failings of your work product.

dei will be volumne 3 in a few years. but then, there will be no appraisers to buy it. USPAP will go by the wayside, unable to cash support it's current benefactors.

Very unlikely. It's more likely that Lenders will finally find a way around the appraisal requirement and will decide that appraisals are an unecessary expense.

ever two years that book goes down hill...

The appraisal bible changes every two years. Crazy.
Can't get it right in the beginning and public sees that it's not final.
Need to add bias matters into USPAP to make public and politicians happy.

This is the career you have chosen. Try actually reading and understanding USPAP instead of complaining about doing what is required to maintain appraiser credentials. BTW, please tell me anything in the new USPAP that impacts the way you do appraisals.... assuming that you were complying with USPAP before the current version.

If you reviewed appraisals much, you might start to understand why a USPAP CE class is required every 2 years. I see appraisal reports that contain USPAP violations nearly every work day.
