The original "Time Lord" (if you ever watched Dr. Who) is in charge of what is or is not a period of time we might call a "day". "In that day were giants" does not imply there were only 1 day in history with giants. (I am reading between the lines that you are trying to prove that the earth was not created in 7 24-hour periods. )

Prior to life, it appears in the creation of this planet were periods when it was mostly frozen over and most of the sun's energy was reflected back in space. The last such event appears to be during the Permian, when the seas turned red from iron oxides, and the oceans froze over. OTOH, much of that hypothesis and process is questionable and scientist debate about it with hypothesis that are difficult, if not impossible to test. And science must be testable. Or "falsifiable" as Karl Popper put it. Complicating the theories is the simple fact that locking up all the water on the planet will lower the sea levels substantially which might expose more land to absorb heat. Anyway, we don't know because no one was there to describe it.
