Thinking of moving to AZ

Dude be honest once you get your Spec home sold you are heading for Newport Beach or SO CA neighborhoods and not staying in the Phoenix Metro Area --- Be Honest -nobody with money lives in Chandler AZ or Phoenix unless he is brain dead or broke and you will-- blow out the day you hit pay dirt : ) LMFAO
We're already financially ready to move back to So Cal and plan to do so in a little over 6 years (kids reasons), but probably not Newport. I'm from Mission Viejo and we want to live somewhere between the two.

Now regarding Claremont -- that's right next to Rancho Cucamonga and I would still consider that the IE, but it's borderline. People move there to get more house for their money and really no other reason, like you are saying about Phoenix. That's all I'm saying, not speaking negatively on the area. My best friend from college married a woman from there and I've been through the area many times. Also, not the coolest place in the Summer either BTW.

I'll live in a lean to in the woods and eat rabbit guts before I live in California

Phoenix never I hate the place
A friend of mine just got back from Crown King, AZ. His grandfather was killed there in a mine accident when he was carrying a piece of pipe on his shoulder and hit an overhead bare wire back in the 1920s. It was 20+ miles of 4WD road. It has a post office, a store, and a saloon that was once a brothel and there are only 3 students in the school.

Crown King? Yes not easy access, one way in one way out...I recently quoted $2500 and 2 weeks for sh*** and grins for a fairly easy property there. Got it immediately..I knew I should of bid more. Regardless I turned it down.

I have been to AZ serveral times. I like that it is located 5-7 hours from many places like Vegas, San Diego/ocean etc. But my main question relates to appraising in AZ I can get opinions from various websites on AZ itself lol.
Came from Illinois and an independent contractor. Make sure you have about 12 months of saving's for bills, as it took me about 1 year to get up and running. I have been in Arizona now for 8 years (since 2013) and now semi-retired only covering a small portion of Pinal County. I reside in city of Maricopa which is not the same as Maricopa County which is one of the largest counties in the US. The highways out here are very good and in Maricopa County, easy to get around. Pinal County depending where you reside, can be more difficult to get around. I was looking up the competition for Maricopa County and found 37 pages of appraisers with about 35-40 names on each page. The list was much shorter for Pinal County, however, did not realize this until we moved to Pinal County. It must be noted that the valley is over 100 miles wide. If you like new construction appraisal work, there is plenty of it here in both Pinal and Maricopa Counties. Some AMC's are easy to work for and some not so much as I quit working for about 6 of them. Now I am working primarily with portfolio companies or directly with origination companies. If you decide to move here, one of the big lender's here is Quicken Loans (Rocket Mortgage). They are always looking to add appraisers. They are pretty easy to work for with minimal stipulations.
