Over the years I have had several chances to meet up with forumites, and it has always been a good experience. (Most) People tend to be more civil in person.

My experience is when you break bread with someone, it takes down a lot of walls and barriers and 90% of the time everyone walks away with a whole new perspective.

My last piece of advice.....main reason for starting this thread.

This is different from the 2008 crash. The whole economy crashed. We were pretty much stuck and had very few other options.

This time around, we have options. Unemployment is under 4% and most companies are hiring. Great time to find or be trained for another profession. This is the good news! Get out why you can. Sure, you can stick it out, lower your fees and die by a thousand cuts....little secret...you are not the only ones lowering your fees thinking that you will outlast everyone else. That is everyone's game plan.

As we already know, the mortgage volume is down +-50%, and we are at the start of the crash. Then you have waivers, hybrids and other products further diluting volume and fees. It is going to be a hard 3+ years.

Good luck or God bless you if you have a big bank account to ride this one out.

I agree, 2008 crash was the worst and I felt it everywhere in economy. The current economy is relatively better than back then.
Now certain industries are doing not well and it's not just the appraising business.
My daughter was laid off several months ago and I was sure she could easily find a similar good paying job. Many companies in her field have and still being laid off so there are more jobseekers.
Many are going thorough these challenging times and we will have to adapt as we always have.
