How many religious discussions did you have in high school? How many religious concepts were pushed in your high school classes? Did your high school have any sex education courses? What was taught in them? I can't believe they gave up on all that in college, good for them though!

None, no and no. I think the only "religion" related discussions I had in high school was joking about our principle and vice principle. Principle was a priest, vice principle was a nun. She really ran the school. She looked like the Grinch. In high school anything religion related was extra curricular.. College offered theology courses. But not required. Sorry for you bad experiences.

The only "bad religious experience" I had in school occurred in the 3rd grade. A precursor to "the modern Karen" turned me in for taking the Lord's name in vain on the playground. One of my buddies kicked a soccer ball way high in the air and I said "Gaw!". Of course the little narc turned me in for saying "God" for which I was pulled out of the middle of class by the principal, taken to the bathroom and swatted a couple times. My opinion of the whole belief system never recovered and therefore didn't have the power to harm me further. I guess you could say it made me somewhat "cynical" though.

high school and religious indoctrination comprised about 25% of the curricula. Of course, that is rarely mentioned in the course syllabus. Ignatius of Loyola. Catholic Saint, founder of the Society of Jesus said "give me a child until the age of 7 and I will show you the man". The implication being that the child will be so indoctrinated by the time they have any form of "self will" it will be too late. The most effective form of religious indoctrination is applied at an early age, not the college level when they should "make their own decisions on the matter".
I can help in that area as he is damaged goods and has developed the inability to accept others' religious beliefs and practices as valid and now is looking down on or disparaging a persons or groups because of their religion. We all suffer some issues from childhood but most grow out of it or accept it. The Lutheran and Catholic schools are way better than Inter City Public Schools where less than 65% at 16 years are at a 5th grade reading or math level. This explains why Mike is a Victim as so are his Social Democratic Progressives that he supports

This is why the concepts of "free and fair elections" as a pathway to "self-determination" are so important. To combat Russian propaganda like that. You must 1st believe in the concepts of "democracy" & "free and fair elections" before you can successfully resist forked tongued BS such as the above, however. Too many people on this thread declare "democracy is dead" and "must be replaced by something else".

It doesn't help that Ukranian special paramilitary forces training civilians for combat right now have a documented history of repeating WW2-era anti-semitic tropes as well as adopting the logo of the WW2 Ukrainian SS division. That doesn't give the Russians a "warm fuzzy" exactly. There are some really bad people there, and the government is just as corrupt (if not more than) the Russian government.
