I would try to get into Integra Realty on Magnolia Av, try wearing a 'For Lease' hat and offer to start in the shredding room.

I had to look the bold above and here is what I found'

There is so much right and wrong about the above in bold. All of us regulars collectively could come up with a good list of the pros & cons.
Well, RSDS has videos from the recent trainees and I noticed that no matter their color or gender, they are all very young college graduates. It's just like any other career, young folks who will work for entry level wages are preferred hires, especially with no experience in the field.

Looks like she spends her earnings on donuts-

I don't believe half the figures they folks claim they make - it is not for the faint of heart at any rate-

i have gotten emails from them -
I delete them - firms like this come and go, where are they going to get loan business from when long-time established lenders are slow on volume?

This is a terrible post-retriement career, though it might seem reasonable from the outside. You will be competing against an established appraiser with decades of experience, and no offense, but why would a lender hire an inexperienced appraiser unless they offer an extremely low fee in the AMC segment of work and AMC work is awful high-pressure short turn time, and at a low fee to tet the work, it is barely profitable.
The future of res appraising is not promising with the recent direction of Fannie and Freddie to reduce the use of traditional appraisals and substitute waivers/value acceptance on a number of orders.
Not just that. With her or his skills, they could get a job with far less personal risk, make more money, and enjoy her or his retirement years. Maybe fringe benefits on top.

Think about it.

Quick bio... I spent 35 years in industrial corporate marketing. I left about 5 years ago for an early retirement. Now I want to return to work, new industry no travel. I thought of a residential appraiser. Which brings me to a few questions. How do you go about getting 2,000 hours with a qualified mentor and would someone mentor an individual re-entering the work force?
Full transparency please.

Thank you.

Your welcome!

Do you understand the commingling of fees on TIL disclosures?

Simple yes or no will suffice.

That reminds me of a guy who owned a NBA Team Franchise. He go wealthy from a Truck Driver School overpriced scam.

This takes us to PAREA. If I was to be able to make a change and only one change to parea it would be the following. Instead of the USPAP 14 hour course and exam. I would require every Parea Student to successfully complete the AQB course and test that all USPAP Instructors currently take to be able tp teach the USPAP . class. I k know there will be some here that will disagree and that OK.

I have some good news for you Your profile says your in florida.

RSDS Appraisal Diversity was created to help solve a 30+ year problem in the appraisal profession: barriers to entry. The current system has created a labor shortage and lacks diversity, inclusion, and military service member representation. This has created poor service levels, long wait times, and high fees for homeowners and home buyers. The industry is trying to solve the problem with technology solutions, appraisal waivers, and bifurcated products. The RSDS Appraisal Diversity solution is to aggressively hire and train the next generation of professional appraisers and to create high-paying careers for deserving people who are currently blocked out of the system.

This is hysterically funny! What a scam - firs they ADMIT the industry is bypassing appraisers with "technology solutions"- hybrids and waivers, which means FWEWER APPRAISALS AND LOWER FEES, in case anyone is not familiar with these terms -then they falsely claim "high fees" are a problem - no they are not, appraisal fees are the lowest of all the RE related fees, such as commissions and loan points in the thousands and tens of thousands of dollars, AND the AMC;s , which are used on a large number of orders KEEPS A LARGE PERECNET of a fee which is only in the hundreds to start with. Then this company promises a "high paying career" - how does that work considering the reality of fewer orders and tech solutions to solve the so-called high fee problem?

Minorities and ex-military were NEVER blocked from entering the appraisal profession - there are a number of ex-military and some minority appraisers, maybe not enough, but it is hardly a "problem" since it no longer is a viable career choice on the res end - how can it be, when Fannie and Freddie are aggressively pursuing the "technology solutions" even this company mentions, an alternate to what they call legacy appraisals - which are still around and will be around for some time, but with a shrinking pool of that kind of work, it is hardly a promising future out there -

Anyone who enters the profession - you have the facts - for the very persistent few, it might pay off, and especially so if they pursue a commercial RE license or become highly qualified in residential; Imo, luring minorities into a declining field is exploitation, unless this company has a govt contract providing work -the trend to address things rt diversity - DEI - is under threat, look at the hostility toward it and the pushback, especially in Florida - where De Santis is blocking it in schools and the workplace, forbidding even teaching it. . Though DEI might be encouraged at the federal level, states are pursuing legal paths to block it -so how long can it even last at the federal level?.

go into a career where there is a genuine need and the people in it get respect - if you are healthy and strong no matter the age train for nursing you will have more work offers than you know what to do with - or if semi-retired and it is just extra $ -do something fun or useful that helps people at least there is some job satisfaction to be had.

With the OP's credentials, the OP has plenty of opportunities to go back in the work force in Florida. She or he could sell/rent/buy real estate as a real estate agent. The list goes on. Plenty of opportunities.

I took a class under the first man on the team list. I wasn't crazy about him. Never took another class from him. He has an accent that was hard to understand. He wasn't a good in class teacher in my book. He didn't want to answer some questions from the class and would just blow them off.
