Does PAREA offer a path to becoming certified without a mentor? Perhaps I am mistaken on that.

***Appraiser Trainee Research for Cierra***

Hi, my name is Cierra. Currently, I'm operating as an Appraiser Trainee in the Conroe, Texas area. I'm seeking to enter a training program with an appraisal company known as RSDS Appraisal Diversity, LLC. To enter the training program, I'm required to ask 10 Certified Appraisers (in Texas) three questions. The appraisal industry is super demanding so I ask for just a little of your time. If you please do not mind, can you answer the questions listed below for my research assignment? Your answers will make a positive impact on my career!

  1. How did you come to be an appraiser?
  2. What do you enjoy most about this industry?
  3. Would you take me on as a trainee?
Thank you so much for your time!

*****You can respond by emailing me your answers to cierrajbyrd@gmail.com or you can reply to the post with your name and answers.
1. Started in 1980 (Family Business) Didn't know any better
2. I look forward to the appraisal inspections, new construction in particular, especially after going mobile / paperless
3. No, I helped three as trainees in the late 90's, however times are too volatile now.

I'm not from Texas but I give my input.
1. I was unemployed and I got lucky in getting an appraiser job at the bank. By the way, LUCK comes when you make more opportunities come your way.
2. Flexibility and earn how hard I want to work.
3. From forumites here, they say I'm no good so I better not teach trainees the Fernando way to do appraisals.

I do admire your creativity in getting in this forum to get answers. I like how you think outside the box.
That's important to be a good real appraiser.

My Advice to A Young person. Do not waste your time in this dead end field find something else to do. The future is not bright... Bottomline I wish I could be more positive
I don't think it has anything to do with being positive or negative - it's simply realistic. I think there will always be a need for residential appraisers - but the future for residential mortgage appraisal - especially in the F/F/F world - is not bright.

Just tell them my answer comes from an alternative, competitive state...that should work! :)
Hi Surf Cat. May I please have your first and last Name for the assignment? If more comfortable, you can email your name to me at cierrajbyrd@gmail.com. I'm finalizing my research paper and I made sure to add your response!

Your response is what keeps us new appraisers holding strong in an industry that has a great deal of negativity.! Thank you thank you thank you. My focus is to seek private work and Keeping mortgage work as an alternate if the work needs me.
