Trump is Trying Too Hard

Bucks, only because I like you, I spent 15 minutes trying to find an article I wanted you to read (I read it a few days ago) but could not find the link. So, I am going to summarize it as best I can recall, and then give you a couple of other links that also may be of interest afterwards;

The article I could not find tonight explained that Trump's current strategy is two-fold. First, remove Iran as a destabilizing force in the Middle East and in the world and take out the last peg in the Venezuela-Cuba-Iran terror axis, as well as remove their ability to threaten their neighbors and the West. They were perilously close to getting to the point where defeating them militarily would no longer be an option (ICBMs, drone swarms being two reasons, the Nuclear nightmare the end game they were striving to get to - so as to put themselves in North Korea's shoes).

Secondly, Trump started in his first term to re-align the Middle East. The Abraham Accords were the first big step, and moving the Gulf Arab states into an alliance with Israel against their mutual foes (Iran foremost, but also the other Sunni terror groups) is the "end-game". The current Iran action is serving to push that process along, as the Gulf States now see that peace with an armed and threatening Iran is no longer an option - but alliance with Israel, which can then assist them with defense and technology, will change the entire balance of power and have far-ranging "ripple effects" like isolating China and taking away Russia's foothold in the region. Will it succeed? There are no guarantees, but its a gamble only Trump could take - or pull off.

Lastly, a couple of "reframes" by Kurt Schlichter (Col, US Army Ret) - who is "America First 110%" all the way and despises the "endless wars" as much as any of us - maybe MORE because he was there in his past life.

Getting into a trade war over drug prices in an effort to force pharmaceuticals to move plants back to the US...well, again, too many initiatives for any chance to be successful for all. Forget Iran (too late) and concentrate on Venezuela first. Iran is a thug and has been for decades but pick one and let the other one ride until your first choice is done. Meanwhile, Canada's economy is collapsing due to their own stupidity, not Trump's fault. They sold themselves on the idea of all EV in a nation of bitter cold. No country would benefit from global warming more than Canada yet they pretend a half degree rise in temperature is some sort of disaster. Never mind crop production is on a steady rise, Alberta wants to quit Canada and become a US state, and free speech is a thing of the past in Canada and Europe.

As for gasoline prices, they will not reach $200 before the economy collapses. And there is no shortage of oil. It's a pure geopolitical issue. What happened in 2008 did not happen in a vacuum. Oil prices shot up to $140 a bbl and the economy fell to its knees. And oil then collapsed and gasoline prices fell like a rock. It will happen again. Period and Trump will be blamed for both the price of gasoline and the crippling of the economy. It would be much wiser policy to pick your fights with some idea you cannot do it all in one fell swoop.
