I just stop and tell them what I am doing. I say something like "Hi, I am appraising a home around the corner or close by and your (this) house recently sold or is rented and I am using it as a comparable. Do you mind if I get a picture?The odds increases as you get near 5 PM when homeowners get back home.
Response: "That's fine"
Response "Can you please step a little to the side"
Summary response: "Thank you very much"
Sometimes I get a narrative on condition of home or how much they love the home or don't love it. LOL
