What would stop a struggling intern who is paid peanuts from doing these? 75 to 125 bucks would look good?
Who says all the collectors are felons or incompetent. I know some appraisers that still can't get it right.

Take $50 of that right off the top to maintain your car. Is $50 still looking good. My 16 yr old daughter has a $17/hr part time job.

I'd be embarrassed as a company to post $100 a job ad.

Measuring house and data collection of subject are less appealing part of appraising.
You don't know what to expect. Could be smelly dirty house. Could be difficult to measure with unusual walls. Not worth it at low fees.
