How did you "OLD" Appraisers let this happen? I'm a young 66 yo guy, in the Real Estate game 39 years, 30 years as an appraiser.
I guess that means I suffered through at least 15 USPAP classes, waste of my time. If you consider yourself a professional, you would already know what changes are made and who is making them. I don't need a whole day to review what I know already. Again, and again.
Maybe we should find new blood for our future, the old guard seems to have let us down.
That's the thing - outside of the forums and chat groups most appraisers don't spend any time at all n the material and don't ever get around to connecting the dots between the material and their day-to-day.
Everyone here on this forum gets WAY more exposure to these topics than anyone who has attended all the updates. I don't think this group is representative of the competency level among the majority of the community. Not that this much familiarity is required of most appraisers. I think most appraisers learn what they have to know to do what they do - and there's nothing inherently wrong with that. They don't have much use for a lot of the applications that they'll never have occasion to use.
I'm kinda looking forward to the implementation of Fannie's new reporting because the new formatting covers a couple aspects that the old formats completely skipped.
