Folks there is a upside to this slowdown!!! More vacation time!! Just got back from the mountains of AZ!! Here is a economic overview of one of the most popular vacation spots in AZ. The train into the Grand Canyon USE to have two per day 7 days a week. For first time since they started they are down to one a day & that is NOT full. Hotel Rates are dropping, many businesses for sale.

Now for Appraisal Business overview. Can see nothing has changed on the Forum. Comp Check, Fees, need a union (like that would work) & it's the other Appraisers fault still reign supreme on here. OH!! & of course there is the USPAP that no one can define.

New lending law in affect that many RE Agents have already started figuring ways to beat it. 3% down 6 + commission Hmmm seems like a easy one to beat!!

Federal Investigators are still extremly busy, & getting better at the job so it appears.

Now IF we could just get every working person in every field to go on strike week of July 4th 2009!!

Wanna have some fun?? When all the various candidates call you for your support. Ask them the questions we ask each other.

Karl, you are right!

I have more time with my family, my house and yard never looked better and my cars are clean. Seriously, my work is off but so are my expenses. I've found we dine out less and do more things ourselves we normally pay others for because we have the time. If you were living within your means before all this started, it's just a matter of maintaining that balance. After 23 years of chasing my tail, I finally have some of my life back.

This business has always been all or nothing with clients. Now that their business is slow, I can service their needs and mine. I don't expect it will last. Eventually, this mess will sort itself out or evolve into some other sort of weirdness and everyone will be racing around like crazy again.

I'm taking 3 weeks off in October and considering just taking the whole month.

I am sitting here in my "Meat N Taters" store in Wisconsin Dells, WI and I can state for a fact business and traffic are no where near where it was in prior years. I would guess traffic is down sixty percent.

Lots of seasonal workers already leaving on the bus to catch flights back home. Bus traffic is double. Bus stop just across the road from me.

Talking with my banker and he says a lot of business are having a problem meeting payroll, a few will not make it till fall. More and more Insf checks at the bank.

Seeing many other problems starting to crop up due to cash flow shortage in the business sector.

As far as a vacation, I think not till late fall. Still to much to do before winter and have to appraisals to finished this week, yet.

Nothing will bring business like a vacation. I went on vacation last week and got 3 orders in. I think am on vacation next week and see how much work comes in.

Vacation? We don't need no stinking vacations! Oh, wait...wife has her 3rd one of this year coming up next month. Sure is nice to work in corporate America where she gets 4 weeks a year PAID vacation. I'm still working seven days a week right now just to keep up...well, trying to keep up. Three more assignments yesterday!

beach bound tomorrow.

My biz started slowing a few years back, so I'm used to being less busy. My wife's, on the other hand is going through the roof. She does laser peels and bo-tox injections 2 days a week for a plastic surgeon. On the weekends she teaches those procedures to others in 7 hour seminars.

As long as baby boomers keep wanting to look/feel young, she'll never be out of work.

Ray....is your store a restaurant? It would be interesting if you could scan your menu and put it in the forum.

YES!! But just think IF Plastic Surgeons would be HONEST & tell some of the patients the TRUTH!!! that there is no hope, for improvement, they too would be in our boat.
