Hang in there. Needless to say, I am shocked you did not get the position. I have been appraising since '97. From the few post I have read, you appear to be a hard worker that is very dedicated. I wish you were in the metro east area of St. Louis, MO. ( Southern Illinois )

I would do the 1099 way if available. You should be a self employed contractor. Making your home office is your place of business. Therefore anything away from the office is a trip fee. A % of your utilities, space is all a tax deduction. There are other benefits, but do check with your tax advisor.
