We've got cameras popping up on every friggin street light in Adams County, Colorado.

I mean you cannot drive anywhere, without driving under a camera which records plates, and assimilates driving data.

The thing about it, is that private parties can and do buy into these databases.

Total violation of my right to privacy. In response, I've looked all over for a product that works, to conceal plates from these cameras. Spray does not work. Fresnel lense and distorter items may work sometimes, but are not reliable.

The slat style item works! But the guy who produced it is not around anymore, and back in the day, they only made 20,000 of these items I think.

If you have one of these items, I'll pay a nice price for it.

It's a longshot, but just in case. Posted. Wanted.

Thank you.

Yes I've seen those. All manner of electric controlled device are out there.

That's not what I want. This item I've described is purposefully misspelled, it's a product hook.

That item you linked opens the doors for trouble.

I just want a simple slat system that will keep my license visible as is necessary to comply with the law, but also conceal it from up high cameras.

I'm not joking, if I drew you a map of intersections around my location, the entire area has had 4 cameras installed at each intersection.

You have not heard of these systems? Private companies buy into them and can draw information out, regarding driving habits and such. Everyone from private tow to private d's are already reportedly already involved. Since when did they get the benefit of using government cameras? And since when were government cameras something worthy of taxpayer expense, needing to be put up on every corner? It's very unusual, because something like thousands if not tens of thousands of cameras suddenly sprung up on every corner, in Adams county. How many intersections with lights? x4 cameras per intersection. This is a tremendous expense, and for what? To constantly video monitor innocent motorists? Since when was it a requirement for me to submit a driving log to uncle sam, in order to use the roadways?

I'm not trying to evade a traffic flasher or avoid a ticket. I'm trying to get some privacy from intrusive cameras, literally placed on every single intersection in the county. I drive with my two sun light flaps down full time now. These cameras suck, and are super offensive to have staring down at me, when I've done nothing wrong. Especially considering they're for hire and assimilate all data into patterns. Coming soon to a intersection near you.

When you get into all these clever devices, you've broken the law. That's not what I'm looking for. Most areas do not require your license plate to be photogenic, but only require your plate to be visible from ground level.

I'll put a foot long flat plate over the top of it, and call it a step plate, if I have to, but one way or another, I'm not going to just be cool with suddenly being treated like every move I make needs to be monitored and recorded. I have the right to be forgotten, and that's exactly why I want this device. Seriously, read the initial link. It was a tough find, and I had to dig into the internet archive deal to find it. The original traffic cam blocker, is indeed, the best traffic cam blocker. You don't need a james bond item or some funny fresnel lense or spray. What you really need is slats, or a long step plate over your license.

Anyways, I fell in love with this Loover deal instantly, and it's unlikely I'll find one. But in case anyone reading has one in the back room or something, get ready to sell it to me! It's literally something from over a decade ago, before these sorts of every corner traffic cams were even present, and people were only worrying about flashers. I don't give a hoot about flashers. I'd rather see those now and then, as opposed to seeing 4 cameras at every single intersection, all the way to my destination, far, far across town.

Some states will ticket you for having anything covering your plate. You will likely get one for having one of these on your car. Nevada doesn't require a front license plate if the car was built without a mounting bracket. Mine doesn't have a front plate. My rear plate is partially blocked by a trailer hitch ball. They also scan your plate from cop cars and wreckers. They like to scan all the cars in mall parking lots. I wonder if it is legal to cover your plate when parked on private property, as long as you remove it while driving?

Story about that the other day, and ongoing.

I'll take my chances, because I did not agree to be videotaped my whole life like I was in prison or something. I'm a free individual, and I expect privacy when driving. I have to use roads to get places. They're taxpayer funded roads. That's the distinction between public places cameras, and private places cameras. You may not be able to fight it if you voluntarily go inside somewhere. But while driving around public thoroughfares, one expects more privacy, than in a fully monitored private establishment. Who owns this city, and who owns these cameras? Surely, they cannot be the same party.

There should have been a vote for something of this magnitude! The people would never have volunteered to be monitored like this. In the period of only a quarter to a half year, we went from cameras every so often, to literally being on almost every single intersection with a light.

Colorado put a band aid on the issue with a recent no traffic flasher cams law proposal. What about the other 99% of cameras suddenly present on the roads!?!?

If I can find a Loover, I'm going to use it.

Sadly, those states are a step behind. I see all sorts of plate covers around here. I'm getting a custom bumper with a really deep set license plate pocket. Nice iron bumper is really great to drive around with too. Got to have something, because these cameras are just plain not cool. How would tracking an appraisers movements, violate borrower privacy rules? I mean if anyone can log into the systems and know where I've gone to appraise. You really could subscribe, and then double check to see if the appraiser had really been in that area, at that time of day. Anyone could do that, if you wanted to pay the subscription fee. They got a story on the net, about this guy who subscribed to the traffic cam database, instead of hiring a private detective. He located his wife's car a hundred miles away, at some gym.

Lot's of guys in the Mojave Desert area of Southern California cover their plates with mud , I did not understand this until one day I encountered over 6 camera traffic signals with camera lights in a 3 to 4 mile distance on Bear Valley Road. I pulled into a gas station and asked a guy with a Chevy Silverado why so many pick up trucks had mud and dirt covering their plates- especially since it had not been raining. He simply said mud and dirty plates do not cause a problem if you are pulled over by the sheriff he just tells you to clean them up and camera lights cannot get a licence plate number when both the front and rear plates are covered with mud. That pretty much sums it up, the good old boys are not as dumb as they look :) LOL

I don't know who are the "Law and Order" folks on the forum but I would imagine that cameras everywhere would be found acceptable to them. Afterall it was surveillance cameras at Logan that snapped photos of Sept 11 hijackers. And some folks don't mind NSA data mining because they feel they've done nothing that needs to be hidden from the NSA.

If you live in a prison planet, you might as well listen to prison planet on the radio.

I've contacted a dozen of these 'innovative' license plate concealer deals. They're all trying to sell some nonsense.

Let me please explain the concept of line of sight to you......

I'm thinking a little step plate that reaches out a foot, right over the top of the plate. Call it a step or kick plate.

Mud! Net chatter says some oils will cause grime build up, so they oil the plates.

This is so ridiculous. Since when was I required to have my driving habits tracked and recorded, in order to use public thoroughfares?

Write a letter today, or forever hold your peace.

I drive down 5 major blocks, from 104th to 136th. I encounter about 28 cameras.

I drive any direction, and 95% of all the intersections with lights, all have 4 cameras mounted up there.

What a tremendous waste of resources. And the information is sold to anyone who cares to subscribe to the system.

Look at the link I posted. Apparently Colorado is one of the first handful of states for the major roll out. Look at the slide show, and the stats. Worth the quick read.

Coming soon, to a street light near you. Funded, by your favorite tech companies and major corporations, who's products you always buy and subscribe to. Allowed by lack of citizen attention. Great job!

Ha! The trolls have yet to show up with their pro corporate, stay calm everything is o.k. bs. They did not expect a wanted item thread to be charged like this. Winner winner, chicken dinner!

Who's working with iron or stamped metal? I need a step plate that can just tie into the 2 screws behind the plate. Cut me out a nice one, finished well and smooth, and I'll pay what you want me to pay. I probably would not be the only one who wants to buy it anyways. Want a quick net biz?
