This happens in still water, imagine how much worse in flood waters. And occasionally a fireman drowns trying to rescue or recover someone.

I love tubing in the Delaware, part of the draw is the current, and that at least one person a year dies in the river. I found an arm bone in the river years ago. Gave it to the state police, but because I found it on the jersey side, they did not seem much interested.

If you google "tubing on the Delaware River" you'll see lots of companies make money doing it. I just take the tubes and some friends or kids and head out. My standard run is 19 miles down river. It's a one day run, and take lunch in a cooler duct taped to its own tube. It's great!
