Just curious as to what you all feel is a reasonable and customary fee for your FHA Appraisals? What are you charging for them in your neck of the woods?

$400 to $450. It is very competitive in this market area.

Same - $400+.

FHA can bring about quite a bit of after the fact work on some occasions.

I don't get it. That's like asking a doctor what he feels is a reasonable and customary fee for a surgery is. Or what is a reasonable and customary fee to build a car?

I could say that it would be no less then $450, but then they would take that to mean that is what I change for a FHA appraisal.

What's reasonable? I don't know...what's the address?

Say who? The last time I had my teeth cleaned, I asked the dentist how much for a crown that he said I needed/would need shortly. He didn't blink when he said $900 and they could do it in the same day versus a temporary and another office visit. He had done one in the last 5 years for $600 (2 trips, temporary etc), if that helps establish inflationary pressures on pricing.

That's different - you specified a SOW. That's like giving an appraiser an a type of home in a particular area and asking for the price. Next time just ask him how much he would charge for a surgery.

Umm did you miss the FHA SOW?
