What is the deal with all of the profile photos of dogs

I used to have a caricature of my dog as my avatar but after he passed, it was too painful. Lately, I have been considering a photo of my wife.

I think Zoe asked for a photo of my dog so I put it as my avator.

I'm pretty sure I've seen avatars of dogs way before Fernando was even a member of this board. Mr Rex was one of them. Mountain Man was another. Haven't seen them in awhile. As a matter of fact looking at some old posts there are a lot of members I recognize just by their avatars, but they seemed to have disappeared.

Mine is a wooden coyote...but mostly cats or dog Avatars. People think my dog and cat pix are weird...which is true
