What States have the most work for Appraisers

There's something goofy about that poll. They show Appraisers at #8 with $66,000 avg. annual salary, 23% growth, 4,500 annual job openings. However #9 is Pharmacists with $92,000, 25%, and 10,100. Seems like Pharmacists should be ahead of us, not behind us. Hmmmm.

That was part of my point, but either way, The article points to an expanding market for appraisers. I just wonder how many trainees are lining up for those 4,500 openings every year. I think we all know the poll is flawed, or almost all the people here looking for work would have it.

For those of us in Mass., the new licensure standards couldn't have come at a better time. In light of this Money/Salary.com survey, timing is perfect. The new AQB education hours are practically doubling, and now college degrees are required... as far as I'm concerned it's the way it should have been years ago...

Too busy in NW Arkansas. Its nuts. Has been for years. This week? A poultry farm, 3 vacant land tracts, new house to replace one destroyed by a tornado, 8 ac. land (that's just the OK. side of the line); In AR, land, 2 lots ($150,000 w/ mega homes on them proposed), a dwelling-commercial property, a MH, a land tract 4 ac.), a date of death appraisal of commercial lot, a repo'd dwelling on comm. acres, a 320 ac. farm in transition to commercial property. Oil and Gas? 1 gift tax, 1 estate sale, 1 land tract in Red River Co., Tx inherited mineral rights, several lease calls...need help and no time to train anyone. Top that I will be appearing in Bankruptcy court with a bank to refute the applicants argument that his property was over-appriased and asked for a write down of $160,000 (make it unsecured). Little birdy at FSA says the Laotian chicken farms are considering a class action against banks, Realtors, and appraisers arguing they "paid too much" for farms back 3 years ago. Yes, they did if they expected to get rich quick, but they made the market not me.

They make a case for stricter laws governing accuracy in reporting. Let's see...an appraiser starts out around here lucky to make $15,000 or $20,000 gross for the year. A pharmacist can start right out of school at Walgreen's for close to $100,000. Which is better? I'll have to think about it.
