if they are, then I would suggest getting hold of the manufacturer and see if they've encountered this elsewhere. If not, they may be interested in doing some research on this problem, before they get possibly sued; If It is a detramentle "environmental" issue. Does not sound logical for aluminum to blead "green slime".
