Where do ex-MBs go?

I found one selling fishing tours.

I remember one house I appraised for him. It was a small cottage with a kids bedroom above. The maximum ceiling height of the upper level was 5' 10" as measured by tape so I could not call it living area. The MB asked if I could knot my tape and remeasure it. Glad I didn't as it ended up getting repossesed a few years later.

I'm always amazed about the many stories that appraisers tell about lousy MBs. If they were that bad, why did you accept work from them?

I will give a person the benefit of the doubt, and as we all know, they are generally on their best behavior early on. If we get past the 'no comp check', and can actually proceed with an order, then who in their right mind would turn it away? No one has misbehaved yet.

If my honesty didn't kill the deal the first time around it may be a short term relationship. Once in a blue moon, you get that good broker that goes beyond 2 or 3 deals, but most times, the game gets played until our truthful reporting kills a deal, and then they're onto our competition.

How was I to know that he would ask such a thing when they sent over the order?

I haven't done any MB work for more than 5 years and that was for one that I had a good relationship with. For the rest of those idiots, it was a long time before that.

I didn't mean belittle anyone working at Home Depot or any honest job, it's only that this jerk was the epitomy of the most arrogant MB, a Mitt Romney hair do, suspenders, BMW convertible, etc. I suspect he's driving a Dodge Dart these days. :)

In that case, a little Schadenfreude is definitely in order! :clapping:

Ha! Bring it on!

Alison there are several self-appointed hall monitors in here who qualify as appraisers only by possessing a license. They teach CE, work at AMCs, peddle B & C mortgage paper and somehow see anything contrary to their way of thinking a threat. Maybe the time has come for a do not trust list to be posted in here. :icon_idea:
