Dustin recently wrote an article about the new UAD and questioned its timing. The title of the article encouraged some debate in the appraisal world. This is his response.

I'll digress for your pleasure. How many users won't care?

I already know many won't. My question is not if any won't care? My question is how many will care?

I'll give small example on who won't care. Many small banks engage appraisers directly and they won't care.

Many more examples I could mention but think about it.

dont worry about ansi..there is no law that says we need to comply with their standards

Good because it's really hard to measure to tenth accuracy. My tape sometimes bend a bit.

I hope you're right, but I have to seriously wonder if the decision makers listen or even care what individual appraisers think regarding the new UAD.

I suspect they are more likely to use our comments here against us then to listen to us. jmo.

Consensus in AF (even those who hates Fern and that is saying a lot) have nothing good to say about the new UAD 3.6 Abomination.

I believe you're right. I remember when "notables" used to copy comments from here and post them in the old AI email forum, I also recall some of them got a surprise when a few AI members agreed with the gripes being posted here and some debates took place.

The MIA /taking a vacay from the abuse GSE reps have a ventriloquist posting their talking points for them.

I admire the GSE reps for showing up here at all and they do contribute some good advice and intel., however, their goal is what it is - to marginalize the role of appraiers based on the decisions an policiees enacted to date.
