Wild Fires In LA

It's truly embarrassing to be a native Californian these days.

You are soo mean with that statement. However, i do live in a very quiet secluded, once industrial section, of that neighborhood. I only bump into them when i cross into the next neighborhood.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) committed significant resources to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives before the outbreak of massive fires that devastated thsOSe Los Angeles area overnight.

The LAFD has implemented an internal “racial equity plan,” subjected employees to diversity training and is currently led by Chief Kristin Crowley, “the first female and LGBTQ Fire Chief in the LAFD” and a staunch supporter of the initiatives. As strong winds fed the wildfires on Tuesday evening, former Republican Los Angeles mayoral candidate Rick Caruso reported that some fire hydrants were running low on water as the department scrambled to mobilize firefighters.

Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman warned residents of looters and vowed to punish them Wednesday amid reports of looting in the county as firefighters struggle to contain multiple wildfires raging in Southern California, including the massive Pacific Palisades fire.

Authorities are still trying to grapple with the most destructive wildfires in Los Angeles history. At least five people have been killed and more than 100,000 are under evacuation orders.
something big happened today when the LA news broadcast covered a change in LAFD administration as per the mayor, although I couldn't hear the TV...

Strongest wind in 10 years caused it.
Very sad.
City could have been prepared better wrt evaluations but there is no way to have such a heavily populated area evacuate without grid lock.
Hope they get it under control soon.

Nothing worse than when I lived in New Orleans prior to the arrival of a hurricane, with ONLY ONE highway leading out of town to the north.

One lesbian fired another lesbian other wise the wokies around here would have been out protesting. Then two days ago in San Diego County we had a lesbian lover kill her Lesbian Cal Fire Captain by stabbing her to death. The lover had previously served 9 years for killing her husband but got off easy and i guess decided to go gay and off this one.

$100 million raised for the victims of the California fires. Victims received nothing. Who’s to blame?

No surprise here. Good reason to keep your wallet shut. This crap has happened too many times. Let Newsom divert some of the Billions from the illegals to help the legal citizens.

Where did the FireAid money go?

AI Overview

The $100 million raised by the FireAid concert has been distributed in grants to various organizations, with the first $50 million going to community-based organizations providing direct assistance to wildfire victims. These organizations are focused on providing essential services, food assistance, childcare support, healthcare resources, and housing support. Some of the funds have also been allocated to address environmental issues and long-term recovery needs. However, some individuals affected by the fires have reported not receiving direct aid and are struggling to find information on how to access assistance.

The Neighborhood Housing Services of L.A. County received $1.5 million from FireAid to help fire victims get interim housing and financial counseling.

FireAid money was intended to support wildfire recovery in Los Angeles, specifically for direct aid to impacted individuals and communities. This included support for displaced residents, workers, small business owners, and first responders. The funds were also meant to address long-term recovery needs, like mental health and trauma services, community infrastructure, and environmental remediation.

I wonder what the process is to get a grant from them. It could be there is so much need that there isn't enough for everyone.
