Low income....
And this matters how????
I just see it as a statement of fact. Part of a description of the individuals that do not want to take the vaccine. Also one of the terms used in describing a certain group of individuals that they say have been disproportionally impacted by the virus.

And this matters how????
It implies they might not be the highest educated nor trained people in the world. Not many wealthy people carry bedpans and take care of elderly.
Quite a few people die at home.
Well, here there is no shortage of hospital space. I cannot think of a person who is seriously ill who are not in the hospital and quite a few go for overnight and go home the next day, as they are not impaired enough to stay- at worst carrying an oxygen pack.

Nursing home workers tend to be mostly young, low-income people, mainly CNAs. The training to become a CNA is only a couple months.
Actually in Michigan it is 80 hours of classroom and 40 hours observing on the floor. Pay is not great, but it is $15.00 +/- per hour to start, plus shift, holiday, overtime, meal discounts, health insurance, vacation, retirement, etc.. Most facilities are hurting for CENAs and Nurses and will work with them regarding their work schedules. Some are resorting to sign on and retention bonuses.

How can you expect them to retain you on staff if you aren't vaccinated?

"Oh, Susan, she is really good with the residents here and punctual.... but, she will potentially get COVID and kill her patients.... so we are undecided on retaining her"
Agree. Can't compel people to get vaccines but jobs can make it a requirement. IF a person, regardless of income ( how insulting to assume it is low income people, ) refuses to get a vaccine then an employer can refuse to retain them. Beyond sick of the fake "freedom" argument to excuse acting irresponsibly . If the virus was contained only among those acting irresponsibly it would be a fair outcome but we know this is not the case. There is no fairness and no justice with covid, it spreads under certain conditions and mitigates under other conditions.

The slowness of vaccines to reach people is the real problem now, hopefully that will improve.

The new strain that is more transmissible also, per reports, seems to be sickening a higher number of younger people. Will see if that holds true as they identify more cases with the mutant strain- even with a stepped up effort to get vaccines out will take months to reach gen population - if a larger percent of younger people are getting sick it might be addressed more urgently,-

It should be given to young people first-and Seniors at the very end because their almost fully depreciated anyway. As far as distribution, its a lot easier said then done and many people are overwhelming the system by insisting they get vaccinated. Look at FLORIDA -hundreds of seniors sleeping out over night in 40 degree temperatures. How any of those idiots will get sick from being stupid. These situations also make it harder to vaccinate front line workers who need it the most.
