Wind Power

Loose Loose? I've tried but I can't make anything funny out of that. It's early Saturday evening....maybe that is why.

Two major windfarm areas in California that I know of: The outskirts of ritzy Palm Springs
and The Altamont Pass area of the area known as the East Bay near San Francisco.

Usually, they are in scrub areas and way outside any residential area.

Check with an appraiser in the Amarillo/Lubbock area. There's wind farms out there. There's talk of some down along the Gulf Coast, but none yet. I do know that there's a company just north of here that does part of the fabrication (powder coating, etc). These things require oversize permits to move just one prop. Long suckers.

The one in your area is, as I recall from the news, supposed to be off-shore somewhere. The key is the effect on the tourist views, etc. Possible damage to shellfish industry, fishing industry. However, oil platforms serve as artificial reefs, increasing fish, etc, so that's not a good argument.

Sounds like a very high-dollar appraisal. I'd charge per day on this one.

Windows in new homes cause more bird deaths than wind turbines.

If you don't have anything else then maybe you can compare properties that have large electrical transmissions towers behind them.

they shoud be advised to go after the BIRD angle
kill a couple of bald eagles and take a picture of them with windmills in the background...or maybe an Ivory Billed Woodpecker...which some think really wasn't rediscovered in Arkansas a few years ago. :rof:

Killer windows!!!

Yes, the problem with the windows is they're not moving but not moving extremely fast. The birds just don't have the ability to dodge them. This is why I don't want windows in my area. Sure, the windows pretend like they're just.....you know....there, but I know better. How else do you explain all the bird kills?

Actually, and in all seriousness, I would think, though I don't know, that wind mills are just like windows in new homes. The birds will, over time, learn to avoid them. When I was a kid my parents built a large home in an upper middle income neighborhood that was relatively new. Over the course of the next year windows in our home were the culprits to a dozen or more bird deaths. Eventually, the sound of birds slamming into windows ceased. Either we killed all the "dumb" birds in the area or they learned to stop flying into the windows.

Comparing Texans with Yankees isn't realistic....Paint "Exxon" on the side of those windmills in Mass. and the whole state would riot.

The problem usually isn't local birds as much as the 100 or so migratory species that past thru an area. There are new slow moving blades which supposedly reduce bird deaths.

Frankly, wind and solar are inadequate for the huge volume of electricity we use. If we ever get a cheap solar panel which is highly efficient, perhaps homeowners can offset their cost but currently, the production promised from the solar panel people is generally double what most people realistically obtain. With an upfront investment of $40,000 at 6% interest you have to generate $200 electricity per month to simply pay interest on the money.

Present company excluded of course, but MA-holes can be an elitist bunch of tards when it comes to stuff like this.

:new_2gunsfiring_v1::new_2gunsfiring_v1: :nono:

We've got a proposed wind farm on some local ridges and it's still anybodies guess what effect they will have on value.
Some property owners are crying about losing view value.....others are willing to pay more for the "green" aspect...others are crying about environmental damage.....others are happy about the discounted rates.....others are pi$$ing on about taxes....blah, blah, blah.

It is site specific and very difficult to forecast. Good luck!
