Windows Tablets For Fieldwork

Not everyone (or even most people) needs a device like this but IF you do, you know it.

Note that the screen is also rated up to 1400 nits! o_O

Hope this helps!

I dont know if I may be behind in this but when will, or will, Apex ever be usable with a tablet like the D810 Touch is with it. I have other BT Distos (less costly ones) that cant work with Apex on a tablet like my D810 touch which is a big pain when I forget my 810 or it is acting up and not working properly.

The Bluetooth functions of the Disto X4 & the Disto 330i both work with Apex on a Microsoft surface tablet

I currently have a D810 and while I really do Like it It is acting up on me and at times will not work. Even used they are big bucks if I want a good one. DO you use either of these other two you mentioned? How do you like it/them? have you used the 810 touch and do you have a preference?

Actually, I have all three of them. The 810 is too bulky, but it makes a good backup. The X4 is the best all-around compromise between form & function, however my favorite is the 330i strictly for the ease of slipping it in and out of my pocket or holster, depending on what I'm wearing at the time. The 330 is not as good in bright sunlight and will "error code 220" far more often than the other two, however.

Thank you!!! I do like the 810 but is is a bit big and as I said mine is getting older and acting up once in a while so I expect its days are numbered. I will look into these.

Ahh.. .but the 330I doesnt have the viewable screen which I end up using a lot.

Yes, I believe it has also been discontinued. Once someone on here told me how to disable the touchscreen controls on the 810, it made it much more usable for me. I'll always have it or the X4 in the truck with me for backup.

One thing I forgot to tell you about the X4, it will Bluetooth the measurement into Apex just fine, however it doesn't have any arrow keys to give it the correct direction. That's one more reason it stays as a "backup" & I default back to the 330 in most cases.

I'm not usually big on rumor stuff, but Zac has been highly reliable in the past due to his many insider connections. In any case, IF these items are true, I believe they will be good for people here who carea about this stuff. The final item that will make things better for appraisers will be the newest RLCD screens that I've been looking at. They will likely have a limited distribution channel, but they really are the best thing for outdoor workers (i.e. you folks) IMHO. I'll post more on that topic when I have permission to share actual devices and using them in a typical inspection scenario. In the meantime, here is the latest on upcoming Surface devices:

Hope this helps!
