Work

January - March was about the same as last year, but April has been quiet.

There was a big drop in sales activity here in the first week of April, but it's picked up a lot in the last week.
Been slammed here in the Baltimore area.

Not New Jersey... but, I'm quite busy.

It's also very largely a factor of your client base. Even down here, where the whole world seems to be moving, and there is construction everywhere, the refinances and purchases have been very moderate, business-wise, because things slowef down the last few years due to the interest rates.

The reason we've been absolutely slammed the last few months, is that we have a very broad client base, and more than half our work I would say over the past year has been from clients that have non-performing assets. So, I'm doing tons of short sale 1004s, some REOs, a ton of 2055 for asset valuation purposes, same difference, and down here an awful lot of refinances of older homes downtown that have been remodeled, but the remodeler couldn't flip them the past three four years, so they're simply renting them out and refinancing.

Again, having a broad client base with a different panoply of work has always been the key for staying busy when it's slow.

Until 'The 3.6 Abomination' hits. Then we'll be retired. And ecstatic.

I won't be. I'll be even busier picking up the work (and pocketing the fees) that retirees are leaving behind.

Already got two "how's that appraisal coming?" messages this morning...and it's only 7:00am on Monday morning. Sigh..

Sales work slow for this time of year, refi's also blah, pre-foreclosure and REO work steadily increasing.

Pretty busy in my part of Alabama. A mixed bag too.

Yes, and its always the clients that under paid you.

Overall volume of appraisals is average for me. Today I rejected a $375 appraisal assignment for a condo purchase from an AMC. For me things have been slow because i stopped working with one of my partners, and loosing a big client last year. My bids are normally declined, or else i'd be busy. I do very little marketing.
