Would You Count This As 1 Or 2 Bathrooms?

Sounds like what we call a 'Jack and Jill' here. Usually though a J & J has only 1 tub and shower just 2 separate sinks and toilets. I call them 1 1/2 so....I guess I'd call yours a 2.

The master bathroom is split, kind of a his and hers type set up. One side has a head, sink, and shower, the other side has a head, sink, and tub (with shower)
Master has two fully functional on their own and almost separate master bathrooms. Right???

I count them as 2 baths, adjust as if 1.5, explained well.

I counted them as two, and did some 'splainin'. No adjustments for 3.5 baths vs. 2.5 baths. I also drew interior walls on the sketch to help illustrate. I think that's enough CYA.

Thank you all for the replies.

ps the pictures didn't turn out well, you can't tell anything from them, so I didn't bother to post them.

Mike,
Was this home in Carmel? I remember running an appraisal there where the master bath was divided by the bath tub in the middle. There was a sliding shower door on each side, Private, but one could slide the doors back and actually see thru the tub area to see or talk with the person sitting on the other toilet. P.S. I didn't think that we can discriminate by labeling baths his & hers, or Jack & Jill, anymore, now that his & his, hers & hers, Jack & Jack, and Jill & Jill are O.K. and acceptable lifestyles today

you could extend the wall between the bathrooms, and have two seperate bedrooms with their own bathrooms. Does any of that make sense?

Based on that I'd call it 2 baths and explain. But I don't usually see a reason to adjust for 2.5 versus 3.5 or 4 baths. Maybe 1 vs 2 or more. How many people need to go or shower at once anyway?

Good one, Lee.

Once saw a bath with a his and hers toilet. They were side by side with a 1/2 wall between them with no doors. That's just dumb.
Not if you want to go together.

Hmmmm, interesting.

I've just noticed that I'm the only woman that has replied to this post.

Men, most often, don't care one little bit about a bathroom.

Women, most often, really do care about that bathroom!

Maybe, you guys should talk to women real estate agents about this bathroom issue along with how much decision power women have in the selection of the house the couple or family are going to buy - and how much the master bath can make a difference. Of course, it's in the higher priced properties where this gets more and more important. It's the 'snob' factor.

Pam,

It's always the women who choose the house. Hence the remodeled kitchen and baths. :P

Otherwise we would only have huge decks and decked out garages!

If both a guest at my house whom I didn't know very well and I could both use those bathrooms at the same time without embarassment, I'd call them two bathrooms. If we'd both be red by the time we were finished, I'd call it one bathroom.
