What people do not understand is you can't have 10,000 more appraisers when the the demand goes way down.
They understand, they just don't give a hoot. When the next bust comes the ones screaming about shortages and turn times aren't going to give a rat's patooty about starving appraisers. We'll be on our own, again.
The reality is lenders just need to understand that 5 day or less turntime is not possible all the time.
Originations are at record levels, if appraisals were eliminated all of the other bottlenecks would still exist, the overall time to close would not change.

See, that mindset is pretty much what many top designated appraisal organization members have and they are adamant that separation of fees would fix it. I still don't buy that but they are almost like a house divided against itself. Because many like it just the way it is. But many of their members don't like it the way it is.

When change happens, some will be happy and some will be upset. Make no mistake that change is coming.

Now. Should fees be separated? Absolutely.

It is a really bad marriage, even within appraisal organizations and they can't run down each other based on their organization codes.
