What's running in the background. Ctrl-Alt-Del will popup the Close program box, you might take a look and see if there is anything odd running in the background. If all else fails you might do what I did last month, backup what you need, format and reinstall Win98SE from scratch. It really help clean up a two year old machine which had gotten pretty unstable. Presently I'm a big fan of Win2000. I don't like Microsofts license for WinXp.

Still wishing for a Linux based appraisal form package.

I have ZA running on a Win2000 machine at home with no problems at all. As for what else is running in the background...

a bunch of stuff is but if I simply close ZA then the machine does what its told to do when I tell it to shut down. That tells me its ZA is in conflict with 98SE.

I'll keep tinkering. As Winston Churchill said "Never, never, never give up."
