When a puppy I did on some occasions, when working on one of my houses or looking at a vacant home. But now our Jack Russell is grown, and too "busy" to be a good traveling dog.
Our Jack Russell is a good traveling dog. He keeps Annemieke occupied when she would otherwise be talking to me. And as a ballbearing security system, he is pretty good.
Our Jack Russell is almost 3 now and has been going everywhere with us ever since he was a pup. He has about as man appraisal hours as I do. The three other dogs stay home to defend the homestead but Tick goes everywhere I go ....
He is great to travel with ..... as long he gets a Pooh biscuit for breakfast and a Pooh burger for lunch, he is happy, content and either sits on my lap or sleeps.
Two of you have Jack Russels??....hyper, freak dogs with no discipline. They have a mind of their own. How do I know? My wife bought one as a "present" for my lab/greyhound mix so she would "have a friend". Worthless ankle-biter.
I do take the lab/greyhound on day trips, not overnight and she loves it and I like the company. A dog is still man's best friend, excluding Jack Russell's and anything bred with a poodle.
Depends on the weather, but I used to take my Corgi all the time. When we lost him, I missed the company, but now my Sheltie and Bichon go with me if it's not too hot. They love it and get paid in burgers for their time..........:glare: Nice to have buds on the long drives.
Autumn goes with me many times in the comfortable days - She's too much of a couch potato but does love to ride. I took her to that last large vacant land parcel for the estate - old farm land - she loved it - smelling for over an hour till I said it was time to hit the road and back in the car.
Me & her - she's the co-pilot; others there and she lays down in the back, much to her dislike.
They can be disciplined, Daisy is a great squirrel and rabbit hunter. We have an invisible fence (works like a charm... on #5 setting! :icon_lol: ) but no rodent is safe anywhere on her acre! Wasn't my 1st choice, but the girls brought her home... and now she's family. While I'll rough house with her, she is as sweet as can be to the girls. Has NEVER growled at them. People she knows are fine and welcome. But if a stranger walks into her yard, she will die to protect her girls. That makes me feel good, and gives me time to get my guns when I here her raising all hell.
