MLS demands I take Realtor Ethics Course

I am not an agent nor broker just an appraiser. We have to pay brokers fees.

Got a letter from Board of Really tur*s telling me that they were going to cut me off the MLS if I didn't complete a 3 hr. Ethics course which they conveniently have on line... :) makes it easier for their wives or teenagers to take it for them I suppose...

Anyone else get this requirement?
Of course. Like you, and every other REALTOR®, I am required to take the class every few years. My next cycle starts at the end of this year.

Never forget, if you are a member of NAR for any reason, you are a REALTOR®. Being a REALTOR® has nothing to do with whether or not you have anything to do with being an agent for the buying and selling of houses.

I had to take mine abour 4 years ago. I was on vacation in Puerto Rico and I sat on the beach and did the online course. How nice!

They even gave me the PIN ....
I think its standard in all MLS systems where the board is a member of NAR. Go, keep quiet, get it done. Just the simplest thing to do.

We don't call it the Thompson Broker in CA, but we do not have to belong to NAR or CAR to join MLS with full rights, broker or not.

Full rights ??, So you can enter listings into the system?

Not only did i have to take the Ethics class, i also had to take a 3 day Realtor Orientation class just to use the MLS as an appraiser. Then for good measure, when i became a sales agent/affiliate broker, they made me do it again.

I'm considered a Broker by my board of Realtors. I can enter listings, into MLS. I just can not enter into buy/sell negotiations.

I just got the letter, too, telling me I have to take the ethics course, again, before the end of the year. Have to take it every 4 years to remain a member "in good standing" with NAR. Have to stay in good standing with NAR and the local chapter if I want to maintain full access to MLS.

Sure. No problem as far as the MLS is concerned, as long as one is careful not to violate state laws in the process. (Those laws vary quite a bit from state to state.)

Same as Mr. Potato. They only have one choice for me, so I am considered the Principal/Managing Broker of my office. (I'm also the janitor, but they don't need to know that.)

I could enter a listing, but I will not since I don't have a broker's license.

Oh god! What if skippy figures out he can MAKE his own comps in the MLS?
