Hey redfish -

Ain't no carp fishin' here in God's country (I guess we are probably out west, West Central Michigan).

The Pere Marquette in Lake County, the White River here in Newaygo County are both Blue Ribbon Trout Streams.

Just go here

http://www.trailstotrout.com/blueribbon.html

to see a list of all Michigan's Blue Ribbon Trout Streams.

I live near the Musekgon River where you can catch Walleye, Salmon, Steelhead, Trout, and others. You can also tube or kayak down the river in the summer - wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

Lodging is plentiful and the scenery is awesome. There is also nearby Croton and Hardy Dam Ponds for all-sports activities.

You need to see Michigan to appreciate it. . . .

There's carp fishing everywhere.

I grew up in Michigan so I am aware of it's bounties. Thanks for the link.

I was just crunching my numbers which tells you I have time to kill. June was one half of January which was a marginal month. I am offering ridiculous turn times right now.

Bass are fish...trout are just, ahhh....trout!

I have two hanging on the wall in my office, one a little over 7# and the over 6#. I took the 6# on a fly rod in the stream (South Platte) between Spinney Mountain and 11 Mile. The larger one came through the ice on 11 mile.

Since I started fishing bass tournaments about 10 years ago just can't get excited about trout any more. Damn...now I will have to go fishing tomorrow and I really should be writing appraisal reports.

Mike,

You NEED to go fishing period. You have way too much work, ie stress, etc. Go out there young man and throw a few lures for the bucketmouths, lol

i agree! Way too much work, way too little fishing!

At 66 I appreciate you calling me ...young man!

Hey Mike,

I'm doing the Trout thing once a week and catching some pretty big boys. I'm hooked again, it is hard to concentrate on work stuff, when I know they are some big fish feeding right now.

I will have to take a little trip to the mountains to wet a line for some trout, been way too long since I have done that. Will be leaving for the western slope on the 24th and fishing a tournament over there. 600 miles round trip. Pretty expensive right now. Been spoiled fishing on that $40,000 bass boat!

Its hot as hades here and the bream are worked up. I love using the lightweight fly rod on the little buggers in the ponds, and that little pop sound when they take the bug. Gets real exciting when a large mouth comes up and you hear that whoosh sound and takes off on an undersized fly rod.:)

Mike,

My trout rig consists of a 16' Riverhawk with a 4 hp Yamaha. Been catching some really nice ones on this cheap rig, lol It is lightweight, pretty and inexpensive. My fishing trips cost me about $40.00 for a day.

This thread has got to qualify as the all-time, completely unrelated thread high-jacking of all time! :new_all_coholic:
