At your place? I used to raft from the green mountain resevoir down the blue through the old Dow Ranch. I can't remeber what that ranch was called, but if that is your place, you did one hell of a job creating a wonderful fishery. 36 inch rainbows in the holes and browns in the riffles that averaged 28 inches. That strecth of the blue from the green mountain dam down to the take out, 9 or so miles down, was the best fishing I have ever had in the lower 48. When the CFS gets charging over 350 I can make it down it in my cataraft. The fall was always the best time of the year. At the 350 cfs its "real boney", I prefer 450 and up. My buddy was at the oars and ran us up on a real can opener of rock and cut a 2' gash into one of the tubes. I had to do a temporary patch do get out of the canyon, lucky it was the last day of my trip. It takes a small raft or an expericined guide to make it through the first 3 miles of that canyon.
I used to live in Dillon and miss it every day.
Now surly you have stop at the Henney Bar and had the Henney Winnie, Hennie beany Winnie, Hennie Beany Cheesey Winnie, the Hennie chilli cheese beaney winnie and a cold draft beer. A few tunes out of the player piano. We use to go there at least twice a week cooks nights off, I would take the entire ranch staff.
Fly fishing for carp is allright here in Michigan, but there is nothing like fishing the rivers out west.
Yes that was our place, we were in the center, the ranch to the south just south of the dam belong to Bush as in Beer People, the ranch to the north (i now for get the owners name) was the largest ranch in Grand County our Place was both in Summit and Grand up the hill to the west. We owned that little housing development there along the hiway and the A-Frame was one of our offices on the east side of the hiway. Where those two mounds look just like Annabels chest.
I always felt that we had some of the best fishing in the state in the Blue and then up on the ranch creeks as well. Never was short of fresh trout. I can still see in my mind some nice big rainbows swimming in those creeks and beaver ponds. That not counting the Royal Bulls that use to run the ranch.
Bell Ranch out of NM now owns the ranch for summer graze last I heard.
Slowest month for me, probably ever. This week I got a few more orders than last, but last week was the slowest week I remember.
My wife's part Italian and looks real good in a thong. Maybe I'll put her outside a few banks with a clipboard in her hand.![]()
Well folks, unfortunately I found and had to take another job. One 1004 and 2 CIR's for the month of June are not going to feed my family. My dilemma is, should I pay $300 for my continuing education? I'm quite confused about the profession I chose and LOVE.... For now I will be working for a national residential home insurance comp. starting next week. Anxious to see what the future brings!I should have taken up selling things on ebay months ago.............
BY the way, I've been going through the threads and it seems as if the Wisconsin and Colorodo appraisers are quite bussy. Maybe I'll quite the job i havn't started and move to Fond Du Lac or Green Bay!!!!
Spring Creek Ranch Road. There was a take out there for the canyon runners. I always continued down stream. The ranch I was refering to is beyond your Spring Creek Ranch, downstream. Blue River Valley Ranch is what I think it is called.
I use to hike and snowshoe up to Eaglesnest you can see Vail ski runs from there. Eaglenest is a great wilderness area to hike and ride in. Fished the Colorado a lot at both ends of the Canyon.Your right on the name The owner sunk, what I heard was over 3 million dollars into 4 miles of the river to enhance the trout habitat. He started that after I left. I had a few friends that lived in Spring Creek Ranch. What were there names? Dr. Joe and Maggie Seagrent were home owners, as well as Dr. Serraiskie, Joe Wallen, Hap and Deviita Levy, Herb Buckwall were also home owners. But that’s been over 20 years ago now. I have fished your section of that river with a few of those guys. It is good fishing there, but further down stream is really what I was talking about. We use to float all the way down.
Would you ever fish the slate hole. If I did I don't know it as that. I liked hiking up into Gore Canyon in the winter. I caught a winter bow out of the colorado well up into the Gore. There nothing more fun than nymphin a deep hole on an early winter river, no one is ever out there in the winter.
