I'm wasting time at house!

What a joke! I appraise a bunch of bank owned properties and you will never catch me wearing a shirt during a summer inspection. I just pretty much just wear shorts. My handgun is tucked into my waist band and the tattoo across my chest says born to appraise. I don't need no stinkin badge. I also don't need two full minutes for an inspection.

What do you bet that loser you saw was a Realtor doing a BPO.
Well done that made me laugh.

Thomas & Don, you both need to hold on a minute. I inspected a cottage in Corolla on Saturday in between check out and check in. I've inspected this house several times over the past few years with the last time being a couple months ago. Since it was Saturday I was wearing a T-shirt, shorts and flip flops. (I was driving a jeep also) I took some interior and exterior pictures but I didn't measure the house. I didn't need to measure the house, I've measured this house before. The house measurements have not changed. If I was Skippy I wouldn't have even gone back out to the house, I would have just used a made up inspection date and the pictures from the last time I was at the property. The inspection didn't take me long at all. I checked out every room just to make sure nothing had changed since the last time I was there.

Do you seriously think wearing a tie makes a person a better appraiser than a person wearing flip flops? Maybe that appraiser would have been wearing a suit if he was dealing with a homeowner, but he wasn't, he was dealing with a vacant REO.

Don't be so quick to jump to conclusions.

There is a big difference between "right away" and the "right way"...

IMHO, Sounds to me like you do it the RIGHT WAY Tom...

Maybe the appraiser forgot a couple photos during the first inspection,
so he had to go back out and get interior photos, etc. I had to go back
out eariler this week, since I forgot the side view of the subject on an
FHA appraisal.
I wear flip-flops as much as I can, since I can just toss them off and
walk inside. Wearing flip-flops might not be professional, but thank
goodness my appraisal work is.

In my area, flip flops are more professional than barefoot, but just barely. If you wear a tie, people don't trust you and certainly won't think you have geographical competence!! :icon_mrgreen:

JRS,

But....T-shirt, shorts and flip flops are the uniform of the day in the OBX where you work. I understand that. And, we very well could have been jumping to the wrong conclusion. It is also the uniform of the day in florida as well. probably in hawaii, Guam, and many other places. And, i do not wear a tie. Makes me look too old:rof: I usually wear some version of long pants such as dockers, and a pull over shirt or a short sleeve shirt of some type in the spring and summer. Legs don't look good enough for shorts. You young guys can get away with lot's of things I can't.

If I dressed the way Tom described I would probably look like half the old geezers on the beach in Florida.:rof:

Don, if you wouldn't wear black socks with your flip flops you would be ok. :peace: :rof:
