Social Security Pros & Cons

On the lighter side:

A young man with his ridiculously expensive blingy jeans hanging half off his rear, brand new $200 designer sneakers and a half inch thick gold chain around his neck, walked into the local welfare office to pick up his check.

He marched up to the counter and said,”Hi. You know, I just HATE drawing welfare. I’d really rather have a job. I don’t like taking advantage of the system, getting something for nothing!’

The social worker behind the counter said:

“Your timing is excellent. We just got a job opening from a very wealthy old man who wants a chauffeur and bodyguard for his beautiful daughter, a top model. You’ll have to drive around in his 2017 Mercedes-Benz CLS, and he will supply all of your clothes. Because of the long hours, meals will be provided. You’ll also be expected to escort the daughter on her overseas holiday trips.... This is rather awkward to say, but you will also have, as part of your job, the assignment to satisfy her sexual urges as the daughter is in her mid-20’s and has a rather strong sex drive.”

The guy, just plain wide-eyed, said, “You’re bull-shi**in’ me!”

The social worker said, “Yeah, well… You started it…”

Argument by anecdote (and a made up one at that)---very simple and believe me, I understand

:rof::rof:This country could use millions of folks like you--unfortunately, we have millions and millions of folks like you. :eyecrazy:

They should have instead allowed everyone to set up their own private retirement investment accounts, and at the same time made personal finances a part of public education so people could make their own educated decisions regarding their future.

OK - let's try to wander off in a different direction. Like this one, with no criticism to the OP. Sure we could have "allowed" people to set up their own accounts but how many would have??? Probably not enough. And i love that part about 'public education'. Again, it's hard to educate the public. When you tell them to save for retirement lots of them won't. Like when you tell them not to drink and drive - lot's of them will. When you tell them not to take extra pills and lie to their doctor and develop an opioid addiction. Well how's that public education plan working...
