Walgreens closing more stores in SF

Rite Aids and CVS stores I generally found in worst locations than Walgreens.

All the above and more are on busy streets, easy to hit on the way home or whatever.
I usually go Rite Aid, have noticed at least a couple of their stores here have a bunch of empty shelves.
Suspect we have too many drug stores around here.
Why don't they carry MJ? They already have booze. That will bring them in.

I did hear today Walgreens is putting $5Bil into putting primary care doctors in their stores.
We'll see how that flies. But I guess they are re organizing.

In the news, some Walgreen workers said they were physical;y attacked by shoplifters.
Walgreens said they spend 46X the national average on security in SF.
SF so dangerous. It's the wild west here.

46x? sounds like BS.

Sounds high. But I wonder what the average is. Probably relatively low since a vast majority is probably passive security systems. Not a live security guard. But even having to put up extra gates, bars, and locked displays would increase costs.

Donno.... our pharmacists locally have shot 2. Shotgun shells are expensive but generally less than $1 each. It tends to limit the customer theft problem when the guy behind the counter has a shotgun and is willing to use it.

what did not work out... $8 trillion deficit via tax breaks to wealthy, the promised return of high paying manufacturing jobs a mere trickle, most new jobs were low wage service jobs, lack of investment in alt energy, the energy "independence" was wrecking the environment and rolling back protections, his handling of covid result American having highest death and case count in world. He did deliver on keeping peace which is an achievement and I was okay with his border policy. But overall he isolated America and made the world a more unstable place with tilt toward weakening democracy / as he withdrew from Paris agreement and Iran Agreement. Left a nation bitterly divided due to his inflammatory rhetoric and election fraud lie.

FWIW I think the CA law wrt theft is stupid. But maybe those stores had additional problems being that the other Walgreens in CA are staying open?. Not a great time to be a retailer due to
This is our national problem in a nutshell; citizenry magically endowed with their own facts and stunningly devoid of critical thinking skills think they have a good bead on things. It's one of the reasons we don't have consensus on many important subjects of the day, mere perceptions and bias become replacements for hard and fast truths.

I was watching Fox and besides showing rush of illegals running through the border, there was a video a shoplifters storming into a high end purse store and grabbing as many purses as they can.
Initially, I thought not again in San Francisco but it happened in Chicago.
Apparently, Chicago does not charge thefts under $1,000 as a felony.
I thought it was just a CA problem but Illinois is having the same problem.
CA had a major problem with these rushing shoplifters stealing designer purses, apple products, and such prior to the pandemic.
I'm surprise Illinois didn't learn from CA letting these criminals off felony charges.
