Attorney General Foxx’s office has turned away thousands of cases that her predecessor, Anita Alvarez, would have prosecuted, including low-level shoplifting cases and drug offenses. Defendants in many of those cases have been diverted into counseling and treatment instead of going to trial or pleading guilty.

Foxx has also set a higher bar for prosecuting felony retail theft. Her office doesn’t prosecute cases involving thefts under $1,000.

Never equate Chicago with the rest of Illinois please. :nono:
My daughter took a college trip with her friend to Chicago and she was impressed how it was safe and "cleaner" than SF.
She had a great time there and enjoyed the place and people were nice.
I haven't been there but Chicago sounds like a great place to visit.

Don't go in winter if you like your cajones unfrozen.
I can't figure how those appraisers in Midwest and East Coast do their appraisals in such harsh weather.
I avoid setting up my appointments (checking weather forecast) when there's a possibility of rain. I hate measuring in the rain and cold and my shoes get dirty. Yuck.

When I was younger, I would do appraisals rain or shine, 2 counties away, at fixed appraisal fees.
Young and hungry and dumb. I was f**** out of my mind.
