As soon as we get our core national security commodities back to the US China would be screwed in a conflict with us. They lack magic money printers like we have they attract very little investment compared to us and without the means to produce their garbage they would have little means to fund a drawn out conflict. Teh war on drugs, the war on poverty, teh war on terror- How'd all that work out? We still have poverty, are still awash in drugs, look at Gaza- Now we have a Trade War.

Seems not to be working when we attack these complex problems as a war we have to "win". Maybe we need to work toward long-term, sustainable solutions instead. If there is a winner, that means there is a loser - and the loser will come back for revenge. As we have seen throughout history.

China is not going to let us "win"- they think in terms of centuries, not years - they may accommodate us in some respects wrt tariffs, but for every accommodation they will be working behind the scenes to undermine us-

We should be bolstering our own tech education and manufacturing and science, but instead we are going backwards, chasing ignorance and cutting off funding to the agencies that fostered the innovation that made us what we are - as China invests in its own education, tech, science.

Maybe we should worry about primary education first. Hard to learn advanced tech, mfg techniques and science when you can't even read or do basic math

Since the USA ranks last in educational outcomes, eliminating the Department of Education seems like a logical step towards righting that ship. This country can no longer afford to employ people who cannot focus on the fundamentals.
