I was waiting for something to happen that would depress the market. This latest Chinese screw up brouhaha could be the catalyst, coupled with the shutdown, that could make for a good entry point.

Nice decline in the Nasdaq, 3.56%- a good start.

VIX up 32% today. Some bears were so slow to capitulate that I doubt it would take much to shake them off. Fear-greed index already at 29, which is incredible for being only a few percent from ATH.

I was at Costco yesterday and member can buy a 1 ounce there for $4,175.
Few weeks ago, one of those 1 ounce flake bar was $3,7XX.
My wife happy with her gold!
Nice to diversify.

Stocks dropped because of Trumps new 100% tariff to take effect Nov 2.
The economic war is getting worse and that's bad for world economy.

I am being completely selfish. Having missed out on the appreciation since April I am looking for an entry point to add more to the account. I am converting my real estate to equities so I can stop getting my face kicked in.

Then my advice would be "keep your powder dry" a bit longer ... ... as for me, well we didn't miss out, but we'll ride out the downturn when it comes - as we did in 2022 ...

I am thinking end of next week might be good, it depends on how long the shutdown and the battle of wills between Xi and Trump lasts. The VIX will tell all.
